Home Automation – Lighting
Lighting is a big part of home automation in today’s world. Not only is life easier with the easy automation, but also saves you time and money. Most people are trying to transfer over to the LED’s that are easily dimmable and usable just like regular bulbs. They replace the old glass bulbs you have, and are more efficient than them as well. So not only are you capable of doing more with them, but they also save you more money. Just like a standard bulb, you screw it in place, and then control it through a switch. However, there are now bulbs that are ‘smart’. They actually connect either to a hub, or network, and you can control them via an application on your phone. Pretty cool huh? It’s easy, it’s simple, and more importantly it’s an energy saver.
You may be wondering how it can make your life easier, and that answer is easy itself. Let’s say you wake up in the middle of the night to get some water. You have a motion detector in your hallway, lights in the kitchen and also in the hallway themselves. You’d simply do some programming that tells the lights in the hallway to turn on, and then for the kitchen lights to turn on a couple seconds after when the motion detector senses motion. Then after it senses motion again, between the times of 11:00 PM and 6:00 AM (which is when you wake up), and the lights are on, then it turns off the lights. You won’t be needing to walk around in the dark trying to find a light switch or running into walls to get back to your room. Everything does it for you.
Possibilities are endless with these as well. If you go on vacation you can have a schedule that allows you to turn lights on at certain times of the night or day, on certain days, weeks, and even months. This will allow you to hopefully scare off burglars and make sure your home stays safe! Home automation and lighting go hand-and-hand.
