As a do-it-your-self kind of guy, Mile High Automation was the company for me. Two years ago my wife and I began the process of building a new home. As a newly wed couple this home was going to be our dream home, for we were selling two homes and bringing them into one. We had envisioned a home with a movie room, whole house audio system and intercom throughout. My wife and I got many quotes from retailers and installers from the area in which we live, and we quickly found out the enormous costs. As a son of an electrician, I knew the basic concepts of wiring and began searching for help online to make the above wants a reality. I found Mile High Automation and contacted them. I spoke to Josh Ferguson,  President of Mile High Automation, and explained to him what we had envisioned.  Josh provided several options for my wife and I to decide upon. After we decided what option we wanted, Josh went to work.  We provided Josh with the plans of our house and within a week or two,  we received the wiring diagrams and instructions. Again, as a son of an electrician, I had never wired something like this before, so it was very helpful to receive the information that Josh and his company provided. We received a booklet with step-by-step instructions on  the wiring, the termination of the ends, installation of the components and setup of the system. Josh and his company were very helpful when it came to technical support as well. I recall several conversations over the phone where Josh helped me correct a problem that I had caused.  We are very pleased with the professionalism and support we received from Mile High Automation. Because of their help, our home is the talk of the town, so to speak. Every time my wife and I have friends over or throw a  party, everyone is amazed with the system.  We highly  recommend Mile High Automation to anyone thinking of installing some sort of smart home system. We purchased a security system from Mile High Automation and can highly recommend them. The products are high quality and the service outstanding. They pre-programmed the system so it installed easily. We had some questions during installation and were always able to get answers. In this day of customer service being sent offshore and long waits on hold, it's a pleasure doing business with a company who puts the customer first.

Working with Josh and Mile High Automation was a great experience.  Not only did Josh help me to put together a system that was both far better quality than the competing manufacturers, it was also nearly $10k less than those competing units due to the excessive installation and "consulting" fees those other guys charge (and their products which are grossly overpriced).

He was a great help, very patient and incredibly responsive when I was trying to figure out how to do my self-install.  He provided options, instructions, and even the tools I needed to install my Nuvo Grand Concerto, AM/FM/XM tuner, and MP3 server as well as 6 zone keypads and 6 rooms of speakers.

Mile High Automation is the best of all worlds.  Not only are they extremely competitive with price, the level of service and support far exceed what you would expect given the great prices.  The real discriminator when dealing with Josh is the service, knowledge, and advice that comes along with dealing with Mile High Automation.  Don't even think of attempting a self-install with anyone else.  And unless you like spending more than is necessary, don't go anywhere other than Mile High Automation.  Anyone else will take your money (and lots of it) and tell you why you can't possibly do this yourself.  Trust me, if I can do it, you can.

To put it in perspective:  With what I saved by working with Josh, I was able to buy a new pool table, 250 bottle wine cellar, new bike, and snow tires...Oh...And I took my wife to Sedona AZ for a weeks vacation.  All things that wouldn't have happened without Mile High Automation.

My wife and I undertook a 2000 square foot addition self-help project several years ago.  We wanted to do as much of it by ourselves (as we could) so discovering Mile High Automation naturally fit into our plans.  Our find was even better than expected.  From the initial planning sessions all the way through the construction process Josh has provided for our every automation need.  The service and help have been nothing but timely and accurate.  Josh even broke our project into three separate invoices which aided with construction scheduling and pricing flow so that we didn't have to buy equipment until we were ready to install it.  Overall our experience with Mile High Automation has been nothing but fantastic and we give the company our wholehearted recommendation.

Working with Josh at Mile High Automation has been a do-it-yourselfer’s dream.  His business model and the HAI controllers are well suited for this type of home automation installation.  Josh’s model of developing your system plans based on a house diagram, providing a custom detailed instruction manual for your system, pre-configuration of all controllers, and free system updates for life is perfect!  Josh’s customer service is professional and thorough.  His help with connecting HAI thermostats to my 1990 vintage Honeywell zone controller was above and beyond for most, but standard for Josh.  I have recommended the HAI products and Mile High Automation to anyone who asks me about my system.

While drawing the blueprints for our new home 2 years ago I began to research home automation systems.  Mile High Automation was the one I kept coming back to, even though I was slightly hesitant due to distance between Illinois and Colorado for questions, updates and service.  My hesitation has been proven completely unfounded.  Josh is extremely helpful and quick to respond to anything I asked.  Since we built our new home ourselves and time was a major factor, completing the automation system was not a priority once we wired everything during the rough phase.  In fact, I have just recently finished up 95% of it within the last month even though we moved in a year ago.  Even with all the time that has elapsed Josh has always responded to my emails within 24 hours.  He has worked out several issues, most caused by my off the wall ideas, and made them work.  The service end has also been great.  I had 2 defective switches which had to be returned to the factory.  Josh provided me a RMA# the day after I contacted him, I mailed them out and received the replacements within a week.  I would recommend Mile High Automation to anyone.

I purchased products from Mile High Automation for a new home we built for resale. It was my first time adding this kind of a system to a new construction and I couldn’t have asked for better service. Once they received our building plans Josh quickly got back to me with a wiring plan that was easy to follow even for a beginner. Throughout each stage of construction the service and support was excellent. We did run into some issues with respect to a couple of “bad” pieces of equipment. Josh helped us troubleshoot the problem so that we were able to identify the problem areas. Once identified both Mile High Automation and Nuvo (the equipment manufacturer) responded quickly by replacing the faulty pieces. We have just sold the house and I’m sure the new homeowners will love their new whole house audio system.

While researching for my new house I came across Mile High Automation and Josh Ferguson and I am very glad I did.  Being located in Ireland Home Automation is very expensive and just to wire alone would have cost me 15,000 dollars. It took Josh about an hour to reply to my first email and since then we have traded over 600 emails (mainly of me asking questions,  questions and more questions!)  Every little detail was fully explained to me by Josh and he gave me the confidence to wire and install a full audio package in my house.  Distance was no problem no matter how big the package it arrived on time as promised.  The great thing I found was that if Josh could not source an item (Due to different voltages here)  he would do his best to find it for me and he did everytime.

To Josh and all at Mile High Automation I would like to say a big "Thank You" for everyting you have done for me and all the money you have saved me.

Working with Josh made my home automation a breeze.  Even across the country from Michigan to Colorado Mile High really worked with me and my contractors to deliver a quality system at an affordable price. 

I started working with Mile High when I first designed my home.  Josh provided the needed insights to deliver a well engineered solution for the price I needed.  Mile High worked with me from concept through start up and even now 1 year later, if I have questions, Josh does not hesitate to work with me.

Mile High Automation helped me implement a state of the art security and automation system at a price that was less than the half of what local installers quoted me. Josh helped me all the way from designing a system that fits my needs to supporting it throughout the installation process. Even now, long after the project's completion, Josh is always quick to make any changes to programming or help out with questions regarding extending the system. I can't say enough about the level of service I received from Josh at Mile High Automation. I was what you might call a challenging client - I had done enough research to be "dangerous," was on a limited budget, and worst of all - I didn't really know what I wanted! Josh clearly laid out several options and approaches we could take with my home automation (security, automation, and audio/video distribution) system, each with different price points and varying levels of sophistication. That was great, as it allowed me to help determine where I could cut out features that I might not really need, and focus on optimizing the systems for what I really wanted to accomplish. Josh took calls for help/guidance and emails on weekends, evenings, and even when he was on vacation out of the country! He worked with me every step of the way, from looking at our original building plans and making suggestions/improvements, to helping walk me through the final touches of installing my keypads and software.
Next time I embark on a home automation project, I'm certainly going to call Mile High Automation!

I have had my Smarthome for 2 months now and I enjoy it very much. I choose to install the security system with light controls myself using a touch pad and communication consoles so I could customize it.
After comparing several vendors I contacted Mile High Automation. They did not disappoint me. Not only did I receive very good instructions/documentation and competitive pricing, but also generous help in setting up and programming of the equipment. Many vendors are unapproachable after you paid up, but I am happy to say that Mile High Automation is always there for you.

My wife and I knew that we wanted a home automation system for the house we were building, but we didn’t know much about them. We started by talking to local dealers and getting quotes. We found that the systems they offered were expensive, and they didn’t give us the ability to do our own changes or upgrades if we wanted to.

We then browsed the web hoping to be able to purchase the components for home automation and then do it ourselves. After evaluating features and capabilities we selected HAI as our system of choice. We are not real do-it-yourselfers though, and we quickly learned that there was way more to designing a system than we knew how to do, and the web stores weren’t very helpful.

While doing web research I saw the Mile High website. I talked to Josh about what he offered and the process for working with him on getting a system. I explained that we did not want to do the wiring and initial install ourselves, but did want to have enough knowledge of the system that we could program and upgrade it ourselves in the future if we wanted.

Josh seemed to understand exactly what we were looking for. He started by helping us explore the possibilities of what a system could do and what options we had, and then helped us narrow down what we did and didn’t want. After several rounds of back-and-forth on the configuration he created a fully documented system design and quote, and then put us in touch with a company who could do the pre-wire and the system install for us (working with him remotely).

We are now living in the house and I can say that working with Josh on the home automation system was the smoothest part of our construction experience. He provides an extremely high level of service, and was complexly organized and thorough through the entire process. He is very easy to work with and was exceptionally responsive when we had questions or needed something. And the price of our entire system including installation was about half of what the local dealers were charging.

The HAI system that we have is awesome! In addition to security, climate control, lighting control, etc., Josh configured and provided a whole-house audio system that we absolutely love. We were initially going to leave the audio out until later, but we’re really glad we got it. My wife was a tough sell on the home automation system at first as we were going through the process, but now she proudly shows it off as she shows people our home; she loves it.

Our experience of getting a home automation system from Josh and getting it installed has really been exceptional. I have already recommended Josh to friends who are building houses and will continue to do so. As we use more features on the system he’s always right there when we have questions or need assistance. When I bought my new house, I was looking for a new security system at companies in my neighborhood.  None of them seem to have what I was looking. At first when I found Mile High Automation I wasn’t  sure if I this was going to work for me. Where do I go for technical advice, what if it doesn’t work and how to install it? After my first conversation with Josh, one of the employees at Mile High Automation, I felt this was the right solution for me. Josh helped me out in every step of the installation process and explained everything I needed to know. Everything was programmed by Josh directly over the internet. In one instance I was on the phone with Josh explaining what I needed. The next moment it was programmed by him and everything worked the way I wanted it. Without the personal support from someone like Josh I recommend not to buy these type of systems by yourself.

When my wife and I decided to build our own house, we wanted to make sure that our home was energy efficient with all the latest technology for home automation.  I knew that I wanted lighting control, whole-house audio and basic security.  As we worked with our contractor on planning, my dream for automation system faded as our constriction costs increased.  I resigned myself to putting in a small budget for wiring so that we could grow into automation down the road as we could afford to buy the equipment.

I wanted to make sure that I wired my home correctly and I continued to do research on automation systems.  I interviewed several automation contractors in my area and even got several bids, but all the proposals were completely outside my budget.  Then I discovered Mile High Automation. 

I contacted Josh and he invited me to his home to show me his system - I was very impressed.  His system had all the components that I wanted - audio, video, HVAC control and lighting.  Mike High is setup to assist the do-it-yourselfer and Josh gave me the confidence that I could do the work myself.  With the labor cost savings, I could afford to have a system now.  Josh took a copy of my plans and gave me free design advise on wiring and setting up my system.  With this information, I set-off to pre-wire my home before drywall went up.  While pulling wiring was no small task - over 40 hours of work and nearly 7000 feet of wire - I got the job done and had set the foundation for my system.  

The whole process was fun and I estimate that I saved over $8,000 to $10,000.  Anyone who has basic computer skills and is willing to spend time pulling wires would have no trouble getting a great, low cost system for not a ton of money.  I highly recommend Mile High Automation.

After deciding to renovate and add some automation to our home, I spent a fair amount of time talking to people about various options.  Unfortunately, in this technology area, comprehensive objective information is difficult to find.   Either companies/installers were only focused on a single piece of the home automation puzzle or they were astronomical in price. 

I knew I could do a lot of the install work (with guidance), if I got some help with initial setup and programming.  Mile High’s business model fit this need perfectly.  Josh was happy to answer all of my questions, and we worked out a system within my budget. 

I got custom DVD’s that demonstrated setup & installation, and Josh was there for support when I had a question.  Installation took some time, but it was my time, and done at my pace.  I now have a great HAI system installed at a fraction of what I could have paid, with lifetime support.

I highly recommend Mile High Automation!

"I started my quest for knowledge and information on this subject immediately after my wife and I committed to building a new house.  The main emphasis of what I was looking for most was a system that would allow me to build a house that would allow different systems such as internet, whole house audio, and security to be compatible with each other and also grow as technological changes occur.  I wanted my house to be a ‘smart house’ and the HAI system does that.  My research kept pointing me to Omni Pro II as the current leader in flexibility and compatibility for home automation even before I stumbled upon Josh and Mile High.  When you look at the sites of several of the on-line sellers of this type of equipment, it looked to me that most of the equipment was either compatible with, or trying to directly compete with, HAI.  The problem for me was that I was willing to figure things out given the proper information, but most of the information on the web is geared to either installers or programmers that are already in the field, and not necessarily to the lay person. 

The first time I ‘talked’ to Josh at Mile High, and ran past him what I was looking for, and what I had found in my searches,  he immediately impressed me with his knowledge of the field, and the amount of time he was willing to spend dealing with me, especially considering I had not spent a dime with him.  Several of our first emails back and forth were simply him answering my questions, and then asking me more questions so he could understand what I wanted to do. Josh has been in the field as an installer, and obviously has a passion and a forte as a programmer.  So he is able to speak to both aspects, depending upon what you may need.  He immediately confirmed my interest in the Omni Pro II.  He also is very aggressive about learning the latest technologies and keeping up to date on new things that come to the marketplace.  Several times in our emails he would tell me about this new item that just been introduced at CEDIA or a new item that would fit in great with what I was trying to do.
