A quick tip for all of our HAI customers: always listen to the manual.
Josh had to replace the batteries in this door/window contacts, and he didn’t follow HAI’s recommendation to use Renata CR2450N lithium batteries, opting instead to use a cheaper brand.
It turns out HAI was being specific for a reason. The less expensive batteries caused a problem with the system. Needless to say, they were soon replaced by the ones HAI mentions.

Home Automation, Inc. has announced a new version of the Snap-Link Mobile that includes the ability to remotely control A/Vequipment when used in conjunction with an HAI Home Theater Extender.
The extender allows for audio/video control using iPhone, iPad, or iPod Touch integrated with HAI’s Snap-Link Mobile application in a home with an HAI control system.
HAI’s free HTX2 Mobile Designer software also allows for the creation and customization of graphical user interfaces for “remote control” pages that are used for controlling A/V equipment using an iOS device.
“Adding remote control for AV equipment into our app is very exciting for HAI and our installing dealers” explains Jay McLellan, HAI President and CEO. “Homeowners can now change the channel on the TV, adjust the temperature of the thermostat, lock the front door, or view a surveillance camera all from one hand-held application.”
Home Automation, Inc. has announced stand-alone integration with their MicroControl and Kwikset ZigBee wireless door locks.
HAI’s MicroControl can be used as a standalone remote control for ZigBee wireless door locks. This functionality means that a home owner can wirelessly lock and unlock the doors to their house without any other automation equipment. They can also use the same MicroControl to coordinate all of their wireless energy management devices, including thermostats, water heaters, pumps, fountains, and more. The MicroControl provides homeowners a status of each lock and the ability to lock or unlock specific doors.
Additionally, the MicroControl and ZigBee wireless door locks can be fully integrated into an HAI Omni or Lumina home control system means increased access control with cutting-edge electronic locks from various manufacturers.

Home Automation Inc, announced a Connectivity Partnership with NextAlarm and their VoIPAlarm product.
VoIPAlarm allows the users’s HAI home control system to call and report alarm activity to a central station over IP for a low monthly service fee. This solution is ideal for customers that don’t have landline service or for customers that have an existing VoIP telephone service which doesn’t properly transmit alarm signals to the central station.
“HAI is excited to give our customers this unique option,” explained Scott Dudoussat, HAI Director of Technical Services. “As Customers are moving to IP voice services or dropping their analog phone line completely, HAI dealers need the ability to keep their customers alarm systems connected.”

HAI has announced the development of enhanced controller firmware to allow two-way integration with both ZigBee and Z-Wave wireless door locks.
Users will now have the ability to lock and unlock up to 16 doors from HAI Ethernet Touchscreens, keyfobs, and remotely via mobile Apple/Android devices, and HAI expects the ZigBee and Z-Wave lock integrations to be available during January 2012.
HAI Adds Configuration by Room Update to HAI Home Control Systems
HAI, has made a significant update to their controllers and interfaces that allows the configuration of items by room.
Using the new update, homeowners can use their iPhone, iPod, or iPad to quickly dial into a specific room. From one page, they can access everything in that room, including settings for lights, temperatures, audio/video, and more.
Using HAI’s PC Access software, dealers can provide custom room text like “Living Room”, “Master Bedroom”, and “Patio”, and classify which automated devices belong in every room. That information is then distributed to and accessible from every enhanced interface in the home. This enhancement will first be available for Snap-Link Mobile for iPhone, and will be incorporated into HAI’s other award-winning interfaces.
Additionally, the HAI controller will now store settings for the configuration of IP devices such as HAI Dock, HAI Music Gateway, and IP surveillance cameras. This allows easier and reduced installation times since supported interfaces can retrieve settings directly from the controller.
These new developments will be incorporated into HAI’s next controller firmware update, expected in September 2011. All items are backwards compatible. Users of Snap-Link Mobile for iPhone will receive free upgrades.
