NuVo has added support for Last.fm and Rhapsody music service to their Music Port and Music Port Elite audio systems.
From the press release:
“NuVo Technologies has announced the addition of music subscription services Last.fm and Rhapsody to the list of internet-based streaming audio providers accessible through their award-winning Music Port and Music Port Elite devices.
A clever service for music enthusiasts, Last.fm assesses a listener’s musical taste through the individual’s song selections (both online and digitally stored on the user’s computer or other devices), and uses that profile to then recommend new music from its own vast and varied catalog. Accessing this service through the four simultaneous source streams of the Music Port components offers NuVo customers not only additional variety, but also an interactive way to further engage with music.
Additionally, the inclusion of Rhapsody, the #1 online music subscription service which hosts a still-growing catalog of over 13 million songs, continues the line’s efforts to provide end users with a limitless music selection, through a single easy-to-navigate component.”
Access to these additional features requires the latest versions of NuVo firmware.
The NuVo Music Port app is available for free in the Apple App Store. Previously retailing for $99.99, you can now download the app at no charge.

German-based company Behringer is bridging the gap between electronic gizmos and water with it’s new floating bluetooth speaker called the Splash 100. It’ll cost $99 when it comes out later this year and will allegedly have a 230-foot range and work for 3.5 hours off a single charge.

SpeakerCraft’s new Profile Series speaker is now shipping.
SpeakerCraft’s description of the product:
“Through precise engineering and with the use of Neodymium magnets, the Profile series is little more than a shadow on the wall or ceiling. Although there is still a flange to cover the rough edge of the drywall after the hole has been cut, the final appearance is all grille with only the slightest edge to create a smooth, finished result.”
At this year’s CEDIA Expo, SpeakerCraft announced three new speaker lines — the retro Roots line, the “invisible” Seamless line that installs behind drywall, and a line of flangeless in-ceiling/in-wall speakers called Profile.
Nirv, SpeakerCraft’s whole-house A/V system, also made an appearance.
